More New New....

I scored some things on a recent trip to New York (thanks Grandma!). I also received the shoes I ordered online a couple of weeks ago. Zara screwed up my order and sent awesome black velvet slippers with gold bows instead of skulls, and they will not be sent back!

This Parker jacket is a new go-to in my closet. It's got all the best elements of moto, Chanel tweed, and biker styles. Great over a t-shirt, tank, or button-up (like the top below)

Top by Guess, necklace by Forever 21, bandeau bra by Brandy Melville

Brittney Houndstooth Denim Leggings by Guess. I love the subtle houndstooth print, and they go well with the top and jacket.

New New

I was in need of some shoe rejuvenation, so I indulged in a thorough bout of online shopping. I ordered the brown boots, the booties, the skullified slippers, and the rain boots. All but the slippers were on sale #stingyskills.

Finding the right boot is especially difficult, a lot of them are too chunky and wide around the ankle, creating an unfortunate cankle appearance.

I have found that flat booties can be too duck-like, especially on those of us with a smaller stature. Regrettably, the Sam Edelman booties I was cooing about in my previous post are duck shoes. I am hoping that the added height of these DV by Dolce Vita babies are more flattering.

It's about time I got a good, versatile (black) pair of rain boots. I don't like the constrained and heavy feeling of tall rain boots, but Tretorn's are a perfect height, and have cozy lining inside.

Last but not least, the major void in my shoe collection has been the skullified slippers. Put a skull on it, as I like to say. Everyone deserves a chance to pretend they're pirates.

It's always hard to tell what will look good on physically versus on the screen, so went by the customers' reviews.

To follow: what I keep, which hopefully is all!

Changing of the Leaves

Fall colors: they're easily mixable, wearable, and can be worn from day to night. They also flatter my complexion the best. The only thing I actually own and wear from below is the MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Quite the Thing! I'm not a lipstick person, and this is the perfect, fuss-free, sheer and balm-like lipstick I have yet to try. I also love the colors in the NARS eyeshadow palette. As for clothing, I'll start with the top: the hat. I like that the brim isn't fedora-short, nor too floppy (bad word choice I know). I have a feeling this style will be seen a lot this Fall. And the Paula Bianco cozy knit scarf is a necessity, as it can be thrown over a sweater or worn as an infinity scarf over a big jacket, and gray goes with everything, especially the gray Fall sky. One hundo for a scarf isn't cheap, but might be worth the buck since it's so versatile.

Next, the slightly-too-pricey but beautiful brown leather jacket by BCBG is on my ultra wish list. Early Christmas present please? Maybe minus a few hundred.... It would go great with either of these happy-colored pants. Rachel Zoe's purple bellbottom cords are flattering on any shape, and the Blank velveteens look super comfortable. Blank is my favorite pant designer.

Finally, Sam Edelman never fails in the shoe department. These neutral flat booties go with anything and everything, and the ankle height is midget-friendly/anti-cankle. They also come in black, which is always a safe buy. Love the cranberry color of the KORS by Michael Kors heeled booties.

As for the accessories - bag and ring - they're just great.

In Between

This week, it's safe to say that Fall is upon us. The in-between warm and cold weather can be hard to dress for, but a good rule of thumb is to wear smart layers. I put together some selfie shots of some outfits that I have been and will be wearing to prep me for the real cold.

I'm all about sweaters, vests, and shearling. I just got the white button-down top from Zara -- it's a closet staple and took me forever to find the right one! And on sale, holla.

The Quicksilver jacket is definitely my favorite fall item so far. I'm on the hunt for booties as an alternative to the lace-up heels with the outfit I pictured it in. Sam Edelman has some that I'm eyeing.

The lighting in my mom's closet is wack so apologies for the grainy pictures.

Zara sweater, J Brand jeans, Aldo shoes

Madewell shirt, Zara vest, H&M scarf, Zara (green) pants, J. Crew flats

Banana Republic sweater, Nanette Lepore pants, DV by Dolce Vita shoes

Not sure how much longer I'll be able to wear neon floral pants...

Quicksilver jacket, Zara shirt, Hue leggings, Enzo Angiolini shoes

Zip-off sleeeves! Zara scarf

Elizabeth & James shirt and skirt, Bertie shoes, guest appearance by my dog, Lola

Tr3ndy

I enjoy a good pop of neon here and there. I'm more into the neon accessories than I am neon clothing -- stuff hurts your eyes if you look at it for more than 3 seconds. Except I'm allowing myself the pair of bright booger-green BDG shorts -- since I'm short there's less of a chance that the general population's eyes will linger in that direction anyway.

White-and-neon is an attractive combo for summer. I want those Nordstrom wedges pretty badly, and they're not they're not a bad price point, unlike the Dannijo necklace and Balenciaga bag, neither of which my parents would ever think I deserved as graduation presents.

Take it or leave it advice: wear neon while you can, but keep it confined to accessories and bling during the cooler months, unless you're lucky and live in Hawaii or some amaze paradise like it.

Met Ballers

There seemed to be a lot of orange and yellow on the Met Gala red carpet this year -- can you say color clash? I'm not a huge fan of these colors, but in some cases it worked. January Jones looked stunning in her sunshine-y Atelier Versace gown. I think I'd narrow my favorites down to Camilla Belle in a refined flapper-esque Ralph Lauren Collection creation, Kate Bosworth's fringe-fest Prada dress, and Candice Swanepoel's electric blue getup. I love the refined 30's flapper look, plus it helps that Camilla is a bombshell. Last but not least, Tim Tebow proved he could be dapper off the football field. Although he looks like he's about to catch a football in the picture....

Camilla Belle - Ralph Lauren Collection

Carey Mulligan - Prada

Jessica Alba - Michael Kors

The Man - in a suit

Gwenyth Paltrow - Prada

Kate Bosworth - Prada

Candice Swanepoel - Rag & Bone custom

Gisele Bundchen - Givenchy

January Jones - Atelier Versace

Caroline Trentini - Olivier Thyskens

Ashley Greene - Donna Karan Atelier

Jessica Stam - John Galliano for Christian Dior

Sh*t Girls Can Do

One of the perks of being a female, or drag queen, is getting to play and experiment with makeup and beauty products. I'm not a very adventurous person when it comes to makeup; I was convinced I looked like a drag queen when I put on eyeshadow until about a year ago. However, I still limit myself to mostly browns, grays, and purples.

My beauty idols (along with fashion idols) are the Olsens: all three of them. They've got the ginormous eyes, pouty lips, and full brows that most girls covet (and hate them for). If you got it, flaunt it!

I love Clinique mascara because it gives you thick, luscious lashes without the clumpiness, and their bottom lash mascara is amazeballs (and it comes right off with just warm water).  My new favorite scent is Dolce & Gabbana "Rose the One," I'm not a perfume connoisseur so I'm not sure how to describe it, but it's basically a girlier version of Dolce & Gabbana "Light Blue."

For lips, I like putting clear gloss on top of lipstick to make it less matte looking and more kissable ;)

Benefit's Boi-ing concealer is seriously the best. Put it under your eyes or on any pimple of any size and your imperfections are completely camouflaged. I love BareMinerals foundation -- even though it's powder, it has a really natural and fresh look.

As for hair, Bumble and Bumble gives you sexy beach waves in a bottle.

Daydreamin'

The downright dreary weather today in Boston inspired my daydream about the "perfect" summer outfit. I just bought these obnoxiously [awesome] neon jorts from Urban Outfitters the other day -- I would include the link but I mysteriously can't find them on the website. I can't even find the expensive Paige Denim version either! They must be in high demand.

Top is from H&M, jelly flat sandals from UO (last summer), and necklace is from my Granny's closet.

I am understatedly attached to my white jelly sandals; they go with literally anything and everything, and are pretty dang comfortable. The necklace, however, gets a little heavy after a long day. I don't know how Granny did it back in the day. But hey, it looks good, and beauty = pain right?

Bottom Betch

School got in the way of my posting. But now the sun is out so I'm more motivated!

Loving the bright colors and prints on jeans lately. I will definitely be picking and choosing a couple from both categories to establish a firm foot in my spring/summer wardrobe.

Adriano Goldschmeid has got his ish popping on the fun jean front. Plus, these babies are midget-friendly. "Ankle" jeans = skinny jeans for midgets like me.

With the jeans come the footwear, the other essential item one should adorn oneself with before leaving the house. I prefer wedges because there is less of a chance of falling on my a$$/face/elbow/whatever in them. And, they just look good, and elongate my non-elongated legs.

So, for all you bottom betches out there, here is my attempt at making your selection more concise:
